Vista | Meadow | Walks
The owners of this garden wanted to add more interest and intimacy to the space. Currently all lawn, the garden felt flat, open and exposed, offering no real views or interest.
The brief was to reduce the wide feel to the space, to provide views and opportunity for sculptural focal points and walks around the garden. A Tulip meadow together with minimal hard landscaping, and low maintenance were key requirements.
The Master plan introduced trees to the garden in a grid layout which echoed the history of the location and its links to fruit orchards. Areas left to long grass meadow softened the strong geometric layout of the trees, while providing an opportunity to cut fun paths in the grass for the children to explore. This design provides a more intimate feel to the garden whilst still achieving a wide lawn to play and provide views to the herbaceous border and Tulip Meadow beyond. An avenue with a view to the garden gate creates a lovely atmosphere to start and end dog walks.
Existing Rose beds are rejuvenated with sumptuous herbaceous planting.
Planting for the Tulip meadow due to commence November 2016, with further planting in Spring 2017.
