What to expect

Where to start...

Creating a Garden is an exciting journey which involves several stages. Before you embark on this journey spend some time considering your needs in the garden. Perhaps take the opportunity to visit some gardens such as those open to the National Garden Scheme (NGS) to get an idea of the plants, materials and styles you like. Consider your budget and timescales. Building a garden is not dissimilar to a building project, even the simplest set of steps require a foundation, so thanks to our glorious temperate climate be prepared for a bit of mud!

Garden Design

  • Initial consultation is an opportunity to meet you and your family to discuss everyone's thoughts and ideas.
  • Agree a design brief which matches your lifestyle and budget.
  • Survey is an essential part of the design process. An up to date accurate survey of the site will ensure that costs can be estimated more accurately and will significantly contribute to the smooth running of your project.
  • Presentation of Design proposal will include a scale plan of the proposed scheme and may include mood boards and material suggestions.

Advice, consultation and after care

  • If your requirements are less ambitious than a complete redesign and you wish to discuss an individual aspect of your garden such as re-stocking a neglected border or wish to discuss possible design solutions then Jenny provides a consultancy service. Please contact Jenny to discuss your individual requirements.
  • Looking after your garden after it has been completed is something that should be considered before creating your new garden. Jenny can advise you on appointing maintenance services after completion and can provide you with a maintenance schedule specific to the plants and materials to ensure your new garden continues to look its best.

Construction

  • Once a design proposal has been agreed Jenny will help you in the tendering process to select a landscaper.
  • See the useful links page for information about BALI and APL landscapers
  • Construction drawings will support the construction process and ensure the design is not compromised.
  • Jenny will work closely with your landscaper to ensure the process runs smoothly

Planting Plans

  • Planting design is an integral part of the design process and is the icing on the cake as far as completing the look of your garden.
  • Planting plans are scale plans that overlay the plan of your garden and specify what plant goes where.
  • Jenny can supply high quality plants at competitive prices and can plant after construction and bed preparation is complete.
  • Your chosen landscaper may supply plants and plant as part of their service.
  • Planting Plans can be produced for individual areas within your existing garden and need not be just for complete garden schemes, contact Jenny with your specific requirements.
